First, to give you precise instructions on how to circumvent the hiding of
details for those still living. These given below are Step-by-Step for PAF
5.2.18.0:
1. In 'family' view on your screen, go to 'Tools'.

2. Click on "create web page"

3. Select your individuals.

4. In the right-hand side of the portion below the "select" individuals
check to make sure that

a) "Hide details for the living" is unchecked; and,
b) "Show names" is unchecked.

5. Hit "Finish" once you have selected any other options.

If after you have done each of the above steps and you still have the
details hidden, you might want to check your "File" "Print Reports" section,
under "Individual Summary" to make sure that there is a check mark in the
box next to the option to show confidential notes and details.

Now, having given you the instructions on how to get PAF to do your bidding,
you might want to consider the following points.

I. England and Wales have a very strict Data Protection Act in place that
precisely dictates how any person is permitted to collect, store, maintain
and disseminate information concerning living individuals. If any of your
"living" creatures are thusly British, you will, unless you enlist with the
proper statutory authorities, immediately be in violation of several points
of their law.

II. Canada has a similar Privacy Law in place which protects the rights of
the living to assure that the vital information, i.e. birth date, birth
place, full name, et cetera, of all of its' citizens is not disseminated by
any authority without due process or justification. In additional to the
federal law, there are also individual provincial laws governing privacy
matters and the release of vital information. As I am a Canadian, I would
be extremely angered if someone on whose tree I sit published my details to
the web without my knowledge or consent.

III. Numerous individual States throughout the U.S.A. have adopted similar
privacy-related statutes which now make it necessary to prove one's right to
a particular piece of vital information concerning an individual - living or
deceased - before the paperwork is released.

IV. France, Germany, Italy and numerous other European countries have
privacy laws which are much more stringent than that of England and Wales.
Among those cited here, France is the most notorious for demanding absolute
proof of descent before releasing any details of any individual, living or
deceased.

V. In general, having regard to the current climate of internet crime and
in particular, identity theft, I would be very displeased if someone
proceeded to publish my vital details on the internet. In fact, I do have a
website - my professional website that lists only the names of my ancestors.
That is all I will ever permit to be circulated in the general world wide
web concerning any of my family members, myself included. My professional
website has attached to the backend, in a protected directory, a full
PAF-generated website to which only proven descendants are given a nod to
access. Even still, that site has hidden all of the details of the living.
It would be ghastly enough should a usurper make off with the details of one
of the dead to attempt a resurrection of an identity, but I can tell you,
that I sure do not want to bear the responsibility of putting that type of
information concerning a living relative into the wrong hands.
