JOHN CORBETT, A PENINSULAR VETERAN
"Many of the Pontypool people will remember old John Corbett, who was for many years a nailer employed by Messrs. Davies and Sandbrook, and who died April 1st 1871, at the ripe age of 82 years. Many of them will probably read with interest the following yarns of the old man, who had in his younger days seen many moving perils 'by flood and field'.
The account was taken down from the veteran's lips by Mr. Elias Vaughan, who has been good enough to hand it to us for publication, and we think we may suitably do that in the columns of The Free Press."
