The level of certificate application receipts significantly increased
as a result of the BBC series in November/ December last year.
The GRO continues to receive high levels of applications as a result
of this continued interest in family history research.
As a result we are despatching the majority of standard orders with a
GRO index reference between 8 and 10 working days* after receipt.
A full recovery plan is in place and it is expected that the 4 working
day service will resume from the beginning of April 2005.

and from Ancestors Magazine they are quoted as saying that in November the
number of certs increased by 33,000 up from 115,000 for October that's an
increase of 28% so I for one think they have done tremendously well
