"Death Of Sir George Phillippo.
The death is announced at Geneva, at the age of 81, of the Hon. Sir George
Phillippo.
He held a number of Colonial appointments, including that of Chief Justice
of Hong-Kong, and was British Consul at Geneva from 1897 to 1910. He was
knighted in 1882.
I have been able to follow his career around various parts of the world,
but know absolutely nothing about his personal life. He was born in
Spanish Town, Jamaica c, 1833 and that's all I know."

About the Millionth Book:
The book chosen to be digitized as the University of Hong Kong Libraries’ 1 millionth eBook is the five-volume set, An Authentic Account of an Embassy from the King of Great Britain to the Emperor of China, by George Staunton, published in 1798. It is a genuine and copious account of Lord George Macartney’s mission to the court of the Qing emperor Qianlong from the court of King George III between 1792 and 1794, and is the only copy known to exist in the world.
