Legal Research Materials: FolioViews Software: "ADVANCED QUERY SEARCHING

Most researchers do not need to worry about Advanced Query Searching. The majority of searching may be done using the customized templates (which, behind the scenes, automatically turn your search into an Advanced Query search--to see these prior searches, use Query Box, Query For, and up/down arrows).

Users however have the option to do their own Advanced Query Searching using the Query Box.

FolioViews permits very sophisticated searching by combining boolean searching with both field and level searching.

Advanced Query Searching requires some knowledge of boolean commands. The basic query operators are and &, or |, not ^, and exclusive or ~. To search for an exact phrase, enclose the phrase in double quotes ' '.

You can also control your research by narrowing the focus of your query by changing the scope from the entire infobase to a specific field. For example, a statutes database may be formatted into fields such as chapter number, ministry, text, name, definitions, headings, and margin notes. By limiting the scope to a specific field, you are changing the 'view' of the database to just 'records with hits' within the specific field.

RootsWeb -- Our E-Zine: "The premier issue of RootsWeb Review was published on 17 June 1998. This weekly e-zine provides news about RootsWeb.com, its new databases, mailing lists, home pages, and websites. It also includes stories and research tips from its readers around the globe."

I get many good ideas from here
Rootsweb FAQ another new page on my site
Little Denmark: "Denmark has 4 provinces. 1 Sjaelland, 2. Fyn. 3. Jotland. 4. Bornholm.

Mostly Pakistanis live in and around Copenhagen and nearly 500 are living in and around Fyn.
In Copenhagen the main boulevard which runs from walking street near Town Hall (Raad Hus) , crossing main Railway Station (Hoved Banegaard) and ends near Zoo is called Vesterbrogade.

A part of it now is Little Pakistan , because you can find many Pakistani shops on this street. There are some side streets like Victoria gade and Gaesverksvej and istedgade (fine end) and now also a part of Vesterbrogade from Fotex to Platanvej are those which are also orenteilised."

Goodbye Society of Genealogists
- I cannot afford to be a member anymore :-({{{

Hullo 2004

Well if cash becomes available.
I will certainly rejoin SoG

Even if I am too old to stand the journey, without spending a fortune on taxis, or that there is much to criticise, I still feel that SoG is well worthy of support.

Meanwhile I will be working with original documents at archives in Bristol, Copenhagen and Gwent - all also about two hours from Birmingham but closer to the train stations involved.

I blog, scribble on the web, here at blogspot .com
and the five others inthe sodebar as a form of self publishing
